Verivores by Christen Sowards - *layout not final
Hey everyone!
I have some awesome news to share: editing is done!!! I had anticipated that being completed much sooner, but aside from mechanical and grammar edits, the edits to layout have cascading effects. Those took up a lot of our time as we had to review each revision again. But the good news is that the main editing is complete. There’s a couple tweaks we are making yet, but they are not materially significant to your enjoyment of the PDF.
With that said, I’ll be delivering the full PDF next week, or sooner if that’s possible. Our team is away at Gamehole Con for some R&R - so if you are up in Madison WI this weekend come say hi! While the team is there in person, we are also going to review some prototype print copies of the book. They are just to see the colors and pages in print. I’ll take some photos and share with you guys!
Because the editing took so much longer than I expected (note to self, get a full time editor), I’m terribly behind on the Backerkit launch. I won’t be getting to that until next week either, but it should be coming soon enough. I need to verify the prices of shipping again. I can’t even begin to tell you what a joy foreign shipping has been, just from sourcing all the accessories we sell. The shipping cost has increased dramatically and the time it takes to arrive has tripled. But what can you do right?
So thanks again for your patience. It’s been a crazy year (plus) now, but I’m really pleased with the results. I think you all will be as well. It’s a gorgeous hardback tome of over 300 pages that will see a lot of use from GMs and players alike.
My new guesstimates for timelines:
Official PDF Release: 10/29
Backerkit Launch: 11/1
Release to Printer: 11/15
Books Shipping: Dec-Jan*
*I will update you all as I know more about printing and the times to ship.
My most sincere thanks,
-Brian Berg

Hey gang! We are making more progress on things, so I have a few updates and things to show off.
Our cartographer is running a little behind. Wisconsin had some power outages thanks to bad storms and that’s taken some of his allotted time for the project away. We only need to wrap up two more maps, so I’d think those are 1-2 weeks away and that’s the last bit of art/content for the book!
The backerkit page is getting set up. I’ve not yet worked with that system, so it’s taking me slightly longer than I wanted to set up. On the plus side, I’m doing my due diligence to ensure the shipping costs I set up for everyone are realistic. In addition, I’m adding a lot of great stuff to the backerkit pledge add-ons at special pricing. I wanted to give you guys a chance to get some of the other cool merchandise and accessories we have at a special price, just as a thank you for your patience and support on this project.
I’ve been hearing murmurs that the price of paper has increased and that printing times have been extended. I checked yesterday on our printers site and my latest quote was still well within budget and time (late Nov). I will be increasing the MSRP price of the book to $54.99, but that will not affect you guys at all. By supporting early, you get the additional benefit of a lower cost.
Lastly, we are still combing through the book for edits. When we are reasonably sure everything looks good we’ll release the final PDF for you. THEN we’ll likely wait another week or so just to be sure before we send the files off to the printer. I have two editors working on the project!
My new guesstimates for timelines:
Backerkit Launch: 9/24
Official PDF Release: 10/1
Release to Printer: 10/8
Books Shipping: Nov-Dec*
Chapter 3 PDF Preview - Download Here!

Hey everyone! It's been a hectic few weeks for sure, but we do have a PDF preview of Chapter 3 available (note - not final with edits). This puts all four main chapters in your hands as beta PDFs so you can chew on the goodness within.
Our next steps are a thorough editing, tweaking some of the layout based on feedback (thank you!) and the insertion of the adventures. There will be a handful of short format adventures showcasing the clever tactics of monsters in the game world. Once that's finished we should be delivering everyone the final combined and bookmarked PDF!
I pushed out the Backerkit Launch and official PDF release by a little bit. We want to furiously review and edit everything to ensure this looks as great as possible. Again please note that you'll be able to update your shipping address during that time. I've had a ton of questions about that, and we purposely held off any surveys or such just to ensure we had the most accurate shipping info right before shipping. That was definitely the smart play for backers and ourselves.
As we begin to wrap this up, let me once again thank you all for your generosity and faith in making this project come to life as well as your patience. I'm well aware this is delivering much later than originally anticipated, but this was definitely a transitional project for us.
Thanks to your support, I was able to transform Total Party Kill Games from a one-man operation to that of a small studio. The look and feel of our layout has improved to rival our peers and in some cases exceed them (check out those monster statblocks!). We hired new artists to work with us who delivered some absolutely killer work. This will definitely be a great-looking book, but more importantly - it'll be one many of us actually use at our tables! I always joke that they are called Fantasy Roleplaying Games because we buy them and fantasize about actually getting to play them...
The problems we faced in this project were solved, and on our next projects we'll have much more elegant solutions. Not to mention having the capital needed to come to crowdfunding with a vastly more completed product. You'll no longer be funding the vision of a partial project, but a much more complete one that simply needs funding for a larger print run. That growth is absolutely what Kickstarter is for, and again - I can't thank you all enough. Let's continue to make amazing things together!
